RYAN HARRIS BROWN
GUITAR & SONGWRITING LESSONS
Ryan Harris Brown, Berklee College of Music graduate (2011), has been working as a professional musician in Nashville since 2012. He splits his time between accompanying other artists on acoustic and electric guitar and performing his own original songs. Influenced by guitarists ranging from James Taylor to Jimi Hendrix to Grant Green, Ryan has had hands-on experience with many genres and styles of guitar playing. He’s shared the stage with American Idol winner, Phillip Phillips, grammy award nominees, Della Mae and Sierra Hull, and nationally acclaimed singer/songwriter, Liz Longley.
While attending Berklee, Ryan studied privately with Tomo Fujita, Julien Kasper, and Jon Damian, and was even tapped for a guitar master class with John Mayer.
As a singer/songwriter, Ryan has written, recorded, and produced two EPs and one full-length album. The later, Stranded In The Present Tense (2017), features acclaimed artists and musicians such as 2017 Grammy-nominated, Sierra Hull (Best Folk Album of the year), Nir Z (John Mayer, Blake Shelton, Geneses), and David LaBruyere (John Mayer). The album is a real showcase of Ryanʼs guitar vocabulary and relatable songwriting.
As an instructor, Ryan believes in the importance of having different influences in guitar playing and having those influences inform each other. He says, “Your expression on any given instrument is the sum of all your interests and influence. It’s how you find your own unique sound.”
Ryan’s approach to teaching is also the culmination of being a student of guitar for most of his life. His focus is to take all levels of students and bridge the gaps in their playing and musical vocabulary.
