WITH NASHVILLE PROS
At Greenhills Guitar Studio, our instructors are experts at using their instruments. As a singer, your instrument is your voice. We tailor our teaching to each individual student: from the beginning singer to the performing artist.
Voice lessons at Green Hills Guitar Studio with Nashville singer-songwriter Hayley Fahey cover vocal technique, harmony, piano and guitar, songwriting, recording, and live stage performance. You will focus on lead singing, as well as blending and harmony for those interested in a cappella and choir groups. She teaches a variety of singing styles from pop, blues, musical theater, jazz, singer-songwriter, and country. Many of Hayley’s students have performed covers, originals, and musical theater pieces in various productions and have utilized her expertise and guidance for auditions.
The Best Voice Lessons in Nashville
About our voice lessons.
Our voice instructor Hayley Fahey has worked with a wide range of students from elementary age to adults. With years of experience as a singer-songwriter performing her own music at renowned venues and festivals both solo and with her band Hayley Fahey Band, as well as performing with notable musicians such as Keith Grimes (Eva Cassidy) and as a lead and backup singer for renowned pianist and activist Daryl Davis (Chuck Berry). She was a National Anthem singer performing at the Xfinity center at her Alma Mater, the University of Maryland. While she is primarily a soulful pop singer, Hayley’s training includes a background of jazz vocal training at the Washington Conservatory of Music in Washington D.C., years of musical theater, as well as group singing in an all-state choir and in the award-winning (ICCA) acapella group, PandemoniUM. Now, she is based in Nashville and continues to grace stages and festivals up and down the East Coast, mid-Atlantic, and the South.
What to expect
Vocal technique encompasses the core practices of good singing. Proper breath support, posture, tone creation, placement of sound, range, switching between vocal registers: head voice, chest voice, full belt, mixed belt, vibrato, and vocal control are some of the fundamentals we focus on in achieving a great sound.
Ear Training and Music Theory
Having the knowledge of the fundamentals behind the music gives singers a deeper understanding of what they’re singing and how they sing it. We work with our students on the basics of music theory and beyond. We encourage students to explore a variety of music genres, utilize the different scales (major, minor, pentatonic, etc.), and learn and use solfege for ear training and sight-singing. There is always more to know and we’re happy to help you explore the meaning behind the music.
Artistry and Performance
Our voice instructors are performing artists themselves with years of experience fronting bands, recording in the studio, and singing backup for nationally-touring musicians. Our teachers work with students on stage presence and confidence– the keys to a great performance. We carefully craft to help our students find their voice.
