What to expect
Technique
Vocal technique encompasses the core practices of good singing. Proper breath support, posture, tone creation, placement of sound, range, and switching between vocal registers: head voice, chest voice, full belt, mixed belt, vibrato, and vocal control are some of the fundamentals we focus on in achieving a great sound.
Ear Training and Music Theory
Having the knowledge of the fundamentals behind the music gives singers a deeper understanding of what they’re singing and how they sing it. We work with our students on the basics of music theory and beyond. We encourage students to explore a variety of music genres, utilize the different scales (major, minor, pentatonic, etc.), and learn and use solfege for ear training and sight-singing. There is always more to know, and we’re happy to help you explore the meaning behind the music.
Artistry and Performance
Our voice instructors are performing artists themselves with years of experience fronting bands, recording in the studio, and singing backup for nationally-touring musicians. Our teachers work with students on stage presence and confidence– the keys to a great performance. We carefully craft to help our students find their voice.
