Shirley Simpson
VOICE & BEGINNER PIANO
Shirley began her musical journey at a young age participating in vocal competitions and studying with Canada’s foremost Vocal Coach Teresa Nocita. At age 13 she won her first vocal competition and later continued her music education by attending Mohawk College as a vocal performance major. Since graduating 7 years ago, Shirley has been coaching students of various ages and levels from Canada to the US while continuing her own pursuits as an artist and performer. Currently her musical experience has brought her to Nashville, TN where she currently performs in a local Country band.
In her own pursuits Shirley is a Country artist with experience in many genres such as pop, rock and jazz. As a teacher she strives to create a warm, fun and open-minded environment where students feel free to be themselves, make mistakes and explore the extent of their physical and creative abilities. Promoting safe and effective vocal technique while encouraging artistic expression. For Shirley, it is important to take into account the wants and needs of each individual student. Tailoring their lessons and providing them with the tools they need to reach their goals.
