Shane Lamb is the owner and founder of Green Hills Guitar Studio, as well as a Nashville guitarist, songwriter, and music instructor with decades of teaching and professional experience. His lessons connect guitar technique, music theory, songwriting, and practical musicianship to the music each student wants to make.
About Shane Lamb
Shane has been teaching guitar since he was 17 years old. While in college, he taught around 70 students each week while studying full time, writing original music, and performing regularly. Those early experiences helped shape his belief that lessons should connect directly to the music a student actually wants to play.
After moving to Nashville, Shane spent two and a half years on the road with Lee Roy Parnell before turning more of his attention toward songwriting, recording, and teaching. In 1998, he opened Green Hills Guitar Studio in Nashville and continues to own and lead the studio today.
Alongside teaching and running GHGS, Shane has continued working as a guitarist and songwriter. He has released his own original music and writes and plays guitar with the Amanda Broadway Band, giving him experience that carries directly into lessons with guitarists and songwriters.
What Shane Teaches
Shane works with beginners, experienced guitarists, songwriters, and working musicians. Lessons can cover guitar technique, songwriting, music theory, ear training, rhythm, fretboard knowledge, and the practical skills involved in playing with other musicians. He also teaches mandolin and ukulele.

Being in the Process
As the owner and founder of Green Hills Guitar Studio, Shane has shaped much of the studio’s approach to individualized music instruction. He describes his teaching philosophy as “being in the process.”
Rather than separating technique, theory, and repertoire into unrelated exercises, Shane connects them through immediate musical application. The music itself helps reveal what needs attention next, whether that means technique, rhythm, harmony, ear training, songwriting, or another skill.
His experience as both a guitarist and songwriter is an important part of that approach. Songwriters can learn how guitar and theory support their writing, while guitarists develop a better understanding of how their parts function within a song, arrangement, and performance.
