Building Musicianship Through Understanding and Practice
Juan Pablo believes learning an instrument should involve curiosity, structure, and the freedom to approach musical ideas from different perspectives. Rather than relying on a single teaching method, he adapts his explanations and exercises to help students find an approach that makes sense to them.
His lessons connect technique and music theory with listening, historical context, and practical application. Drawing from jazz and contemporary music, he helps students understand not just how to play something, but why it works and how they can use it in their own music.
Juan Pablo also emphasizes the skills that help students become more confident musicians, including preparation, professional awareness, and stage presence. His goal is to give students the tools to work through challenges, develop their own musical identity, and enjoy the process of improving.
