How to Use This Course
Work through the lessons in order. This course uses the 12-bar blues to help you understand dominant 7 chord inversions, voice leading, chord resolution, and better movement across the guitar neck.
You’ll practice the material in the keys of A, G, and Bb, with examples at 50, 55, and 60 bpm. Take your time with each key before moving ahead. The goal is not just to memorize the chord shapes, but to hear how the notes inside each chord connect to the next chord in the progression.
Use the PDFs, tabs, notation, and backing tracks as you go. Once the shapes feel comfortable, practice with the backing tracks without the guitar part so you can hear your own timing, tone, and chord movement more clearly.
Practice Tips
Start slowly and listen for smooth movement between chords. Pay attention to the top note of each shape, the chord tones inside the voicing, and how each inversion resolves back to the I chord.
Once an example feels comfortable, try moving the same idea to another key or using the chord tones as targets for a simple solo. That is where the rhythm and lead concepts start to connect.
